KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 20 The number of flood evacuees in the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, including Terengganu and Kelantan, continue to rise as of 5pm today with water levels of several rivers surpassing the danger level.
In Terengganu, the number of evacuees rose to 7,403 individuals from 1,786 families as of 4pm compared to 6,305 evacuees from 1,663 families at 8am today.
Terengganu Disaster Management Committee secretariat chief Lt Col (PA) Che Adam A Rahman said currently 47 temporary flood evacuation centres in four districts are active, 28 in Kemaman, Dungun (15), Hulu Terengganu (three) and Setiu (one).
KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The flood situation in the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia has worsened, with the number of victims evacuated to temporary relief centres (PPS), at of 8am Sunday (Dec 20), rising to 7,308 evacuees compared to 6,627 Saturday (Dec 19) evening.
In TERENGGANU, the number of victims increased to 6,305 people from 1,663 families as of 8am compared to 5,776 people (1,478 families) at 4pm Saturday, which led to the opening of three more PPS, making it 49 PPS in total so far.
Terengganu disaster management committee secretariat chief lieutenant colonel (PA) Che Adam A Rahman said Kemaman district was the worst hit with 5,108 evacuees (1,238 families) placed in 25 PPS as opposed to 4,729 people (1,135 families) Saturday.

KUALA LUMPUR: The number of flood evacuees in the east coast of the Peninsula has continued to increase and more relief centres have been opened in several of the flood-hit areas.
In Terengganu, the number of victims as at 7am today rose sharply to 4,094 people from 996 families as compared to 972 people from 246 families at 4.30pm yesterday.
State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat chief, Lieutenant Colonel (PA) Che Adam A Rahman said following the surge in number of victims, there are now 33 relief shelters as compared to 10, yesterday evening.

KOTA BHARU: Eighteen temporary flood evacuation centres have been activated in Kelantan to house 456 evacuees from 119 families as of 11 pm tonight, following continuous rain since Wednesday.
According to the Social Welfare Department Disaster Info app, three districts affected by heavy rain in Kuala Krai recorded the highest number of evacuees, namely 293 individuals from 59 families with eight evacuation centres activated.
In Tanah Merah, 149 evacuees from 40 families were recorded, while in Pasir Mas, 68 evacuees from 20 families were recorded, and both districts currently have two evacuation centres opened to cater to the flood victims.
