The Butte County Sheriff s office Monday released information about the arrest of CSU, Chico History Professor Laird McLeod Easton for possession of child pornography.

CHICO, Calif. - The Butte County Sheriff s office Monday released information about the arrest of CSU, Chico History Professor Laird McLeod Easton for possession of child pornography.
Investigators say they uncovered evidence that showed Easton was downloading child pornography and on January 20th obtained a warrant for his arrest.
A search warrant was served at Easton s home on Citrus Avenue in Chico on January 21st. Detectives and University Police Department Officers also served a search warrant at Easton s Office on campus. ....

Chico State University professor has been suspended after being charged for possession of child pornography, according to the University

District Attorney: Chico State professor Laird Easton has not been charged by his office
Butte County Sheriff s Department charged Dr. Laird McLeod Easton, a professor in the history department, with possession of obscene material containing minors on Jan. 21st. We are still trying to speak with the Butte County Sheriff s Department regarding the charges.

UPDATE: Despite the statement from Chico State,
Action News now checked with District Attorney Mike Ramsey and he says they have not received the case from the Butte County Sheriffs Office. The DA also says, Dr. Easton has bailed out, and they are waiting to see if they have enough evidence to charge him. ....
