State increases stake in spa Olimia to over 98%

Ljubljana – Slovenian Sovereign Holding (SSH) has increased the state stake in the spa company Terme Olimia to 98.25% as part of the efforts to create a state hospitality holding.
SSH acquired a further 20.64% stake in Terme Olimia in a public takeover bid that run out on Monday, according to a notice published in the newspaper Delo.
Offering EUR 27.50 per share, SSH paid EUR 4 million for the stake.
Terme Olimia runs the spa under the same name in Podčetrtek in the east of the country and the spa Terme Tuhelj across the border in Croatia.
The state had already held almost 78% in the company through SSH, Pension Fund Management (KAD), railways operator Slovenske Železnice and the Bank Assets Management Company (BAMC). ....

LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), April 26 (SeeNews) – Slovenia s ‘bad bank’, the Bank Assets Management Company (DUTB), recorded a net profit of 40.3 million euro ($48.7 million) in 2020, down from 41 million euro in the previous year, it said.
DUTB s income from loans increased 76% to 88.1 million euro last year, income from equity instruments fell to 8.4 million euro from 14.5 million euro in 2020, while it said in an audited 2020 annual financial report posted on its website on Friday.
The realisation of the generated inflows was affected by the COVID-19 epidemic with the practical cessation of real estate sales and very limited activities in other areas at the end of the first and second quarters of 2020, DUTB said. ....

Ljubljana – Slovenia Sovereign Holding (SSH) published a takeover bid for spa operator Terme Olimia on Friday, offering EUR 27.50 per share for a total of just over 158,000 shares. The offer stands until 10 May unless extended, according to the bid published in the newspaper Delo.
The move comes nearly a month after the SSH published a letter of intent on its own behalf and the behalf of other state-owned companies acting in coordination with the holding.
The state already holds shares in Terme Olimija through state-run fund Kapitalska Družba, rail operator Slovenske Železnice and the Bank Assets Management Company. The bid applies to the all the remaining shares not owned by the state. ....

Žiri – Alpina, a footwear maker best known for ski and hiking boots, plans to reduce its headcount by more than a tenth at its main production location in Žiri after a dismal year marked by store closures and the long shutdown of ski slopes around Europe.
Maja Remic, Alpina’s director of marketing and retail sales, told the STA 18 workers would be made redundant and 20 would either retire or await retirement on the dole.
Remic said the coronavirus epidemic has had a significant negative impact on operations, including the company’s chain of retail stores in the region. ....

LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), March 2 (SeeNews) - Slovenian skiing footwear producer and retailer Alpina plans to cut the workforce at its Ziri factory by about 10% due to coronavirus crisis, local media reported.
The company intends to launch a downsizing plan for 18 employees and an early retirement scheme for another 20, news agency STA quoted Alpina director of marketing and retail sales Maja Remic as saying on Monday.
The four-month shutdown of stores in Slovenia, and two-month closures in Croatia and Bosnia have led to a decline in the sales of the fashion line of Alpina shoes, while the closure of ski resorts depressed demand for ski boots, Remic explained. ....
