Mailbox stolen in Northeast Portland

The postal service says the box at Northeast Cesar Chavez Boulevard and Tillamook Street will be replaced.
During the 2020 election, Postmaster General Louis DeJoy was accused of ordering the removal of hundreds of U.S. Postal Service mailboxes across the country to make it harder to vote by mail. DeJoy denied the accusation, saying only those considered being unnecessarily close to other boxes were being removed for efficiency reasons.
But a mailbox in Northeast Portland disappeared over the Jan. 30-31 weekend for another reason it was stolen.
When neighbors discovered the box at Northeast Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard and Tillamook Street was missing, they emailed the Holladay Park Post Office to find out what was going on.
