NORTH PORT – Two of the founders of the West Villagers for Responsible Government have asked the court to allow them to intervene in Wellen Park’s suit to quash an attempt to contract the city of North Port and de-annex incorporated land west of the Myakka River.
Attorney Luke C. Lirot filed a motion on Dec. 10 asking Circuit Judge Hunter W. Carroll to allow John Meisel and David Fernstrum to intervene in the lawsuit.
Once granted that status, Meisel, the president of the group, and Fernstrum, the registered agent when the political action committee was first formed, will file a motion for summary judgment to dismiss the case filed by Wellen Park and its associates that is seeking to either block a proposed referendum on contraction or have the city of North Port consider the matter as part of a quasi-judicial process that would include the developers as part of the process. ....
