Shipping Company Purchases Old Northside Lafayette Walmart Buildi

The old Walmart building on the Northwest Evangeline Thruway will soon have new life.
Two years after the retailer vacated the Northside facility, a dropshipping company has purchased the property to consolidate its operations and employees under one roof.
Completeful chief executive officer Josh Goree made that announcement Monday morning at the offices of the Lafayette Economic Development Authority. He was joined by LEDA CEO Gregg Gothreaux, Lafayette Mayor-President Josh Guillory, Lafayette city councilman Glenn Lazard, and Lafayette Parish councilmen AB Rubin, John Guilbeau, and Josh Carlson.
Completeful is expected to close its purchase of the building on Tuesday and begin moving its equipment into the facility on the same day. According to Goree, all employees and operations will be moved into the old Walmart building by June 15 the same day the company must vacate its three other Lafayette Parish offices. Lafayette Police investigate 3 shootings

Lafayette Police are investigating three separate weekend shootings, including one that left a man dead.
Police were called at about 2 p.m. Sunday to shots fired in the 100 block of Ambroise Street, which is near North Pierce Street. When they arrived, officers found 19-year-old Nakia Solomon, who had been shot, department spokesperson Sr. Cpl. Bridgette Dugas said in a release.
The Breaux Bridge man was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Officers also were called at about 1 p.m. Sunday at the 100 block of Hebert Road, which is near Dulles Drive in west Lafayette. Officers were told a man had been shot by an unknown person. ....

Lafayette Police searching for hit-and-run driver in fatality

Lafayette Police are looking for a vehicle that struck and killed a pedestrian on the Thruway tonight.
The crash happened at about 8:15 p.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of Northwest Evangeline Thruway, a spokeswoman said.
Police have no description of the vehicle yet.
