JPJ collects RM3.147m in summonses in two weeks, says D-G | Malaysia

PUTRAJAYA, May 4 The Road Transport Department (RTD) has collected RM3.147 million in traffic summonses within two weeks, following its 70 per cent discount offer in conjunction with the department’s 75th Platinum Jubilee celebration, said its director-general Datuk Zailani Hashim.
He said the collection involved 45,317 summonses issued nationwide.
“Take this opportunity to settle the summons because this offer will only last until June 11 and we will not extend the discount period,” he said during the RTD’s 75th anniversary with the media programme, today. ....

Police to come down harder on MCO flouters


With the movement control order being extended to Feb 18, Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador (
pic) said the time for warnings or advice for SOP flouters is over.
“Stricter enforcement is the way forward as we are very serious in our effort to stop the spread of the virus.
“We hope the public will comply as our ultimate goal is to break the chain of infection.
“So far, we have issued thousands of compounds for various offences, including for those who did not adhere to interstate travel restrictions. We are determined to enforce that order, ” he said when contacted.
Bukit Aman senior police officers with the rank of Senior Asst Comm (SAC) and above have been instructed to surveil the situation on the ground, added the IGP. ....

Covid-19: Kid gloves are off, Sabah cops warn MCO violators


KOTA KINABALU: Sabah police will come down hard on those who fail to observe Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP), with no further leeway given on humanitarian grounds.
Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hazani Ghazali issued the warning over a viral video showing eight villagers in a van from the state s interior Tenom district being issued a RM1,000 compound each for failing to observe SOP.
The group, which included some elderly villagers, was taken to Tenom district police headquarters, about 200km from here.
The villagers claimed that they were heading into Tenom town to buy essentials, including medicine, when they were stopped by the police on Jan 27. ....
