The superintendent of the Schuylkill Valley School District has resigned after being on administrative leave for over a month.
The Schuylkill Valley School Board accepted the resignation of Michael Mitchell at a special voting meeting of the board Monday.
The resignation is effective June 30. Dr. Janet C. Heilman, the district s director of pupil services and learning who is currently serving as substitute superintendent, has been named acting superintendent effective July 1.

She will be paid a stipend above her regular pay of $215 per calendar day.
The motion to accept Mitchell s resignation was approved unanimously and without comment from any board members. ....
