The government has stopped Revenue Department officers from attending conferences, seminars and webinars organised by non-government entities.
“No officer may be allowed to attend conferences/seminars/webinars organised by non-government entities as resource person without the prior permission of the Secretary, Department of Revenue unless it is organized by government agencies,” an order issued by the Department of Revenue said.
Businessline could not independently verify whether similar orders have been issued by other ministries and departments also.
The move comes close on the heels of another order, issued on January 15 asking all government entities, including publicly funded educational institutions and universities, to seek approval of the respective administrative Secretary for organizing any online/virtual international conferences/semina ....

2 officials given VRS in H'bag over corruption charges | Ranchi News

HAZARIBAG: Two revenue department officials Ramprakash Chowdhury and Raghunath Ram were given forced voluntary retirement (VRS) by the district administration of Hazaribag after a slew of corruption charges and lackadaisical attitude towards work surfaced against the duo.
Deputy commissioner Aditya Kumar Anand said the two were served VRS with immediate effect. “The land and revenue department had set up a high level probe against Chowdhury and Ram following corruption charges and the two were given VRS. They had eight years of service left, but the charges against them were serious. Government has zero tolerance towards such conduct,” he said.
The duo has been accused of manipulating official records of the land and revenue registers, leading to illegal land deals in Ichak block, causing heavy losses to the state exchequer. “Such action against them should also serve as a warning to others who tend to adopt corrupt means,” the DC warned, adding that the admi ....

UPOR project is not mandatory in Shivamogga and Mangaluru. On Sept. 9, 2019, Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa wrote a letter to Principal Secretary of the Revenue Department and said: “The UPOR project is being implemented in the city of Shivamogga on a pilot basis. Many members of the public have expressed reservations over the project making property cards mandatory for carrying out land transactions.”
After the CM’s letter and despite the Revenue Department insisting that UPOR was working effectively, the ‘mandatory’ clause was removed on Sept. 30, 2019. The CM’s letter stated: “Since this project is not being implemented in any other city of the State, it is directed that the project can be continued without making the property cards mandatory for land transactions.” ....
