Punjab Food, Civil, Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, accompanied by Industry and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora, today inspected the site at Baba Mukand Singh Nagar where the roof of a four-storeyed auto-part factory had collapsed on Monday, killing four persons and injuring seven workers. The roof had caved in while the level of lintel was being illegally raised with the help of jacks (lifting machines).

Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], March 4 (ANI): Punjab Industries and Commerce MinisterSunder Sham Arora on Thursday took the first jab of COVID-19 vaccine at a government hospital in SAS Nagar, informed the state Information and Public Relations Department.
Arora praised the health warriors and scientists for their remarkable efforts in quick time to strengthen the global fight against COVID-19.
I appeal to all those who are eligible to take the vaccine. Together, let us make Punjab COVID-19 free, he added.
The countrywide vaccination drive was rolled out on January 16, 2021, and the vaccination of the Frontline Workers (FLWs) started on February 2. Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday announced an ‘Open-Ended Mini Bus Permit Policy’, with no deadline for rural youth to apply for such a permit, while laying foundation stones of Rs 55.16 crore worth of high-tech State Transport Department institutes, including home delivery of driving licences.
The Chief Minister also virtually launched distribution of 3000 mini bus permits for the rural youth to give a boost to the ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar te Karobar’ mission, with token presentation of permits to 5 beneficiaries.
