Sevierville projects continue to move forward

SEVIERVILLE â The Board of Mayor and Aldermen is moving forward with several projects around the city, including renovations or expansions to buildings in the Municipal Complex and new projects on the east side of town and in Kodak.
The board approved a resolution that will allow the city to reimburse itself for any expenses for these projects from bond or other debt obligations up to $30 million during its regular meeting Monday night.
âThe city is moving forward on our East Sevierville Park, expansion of the Community Center, the Police Department and several other things, and weâre anticipating a bond issue to cover a lot of that. What this basically allows us to do is reimburse ourselves for any expenses we have out of the bond proceeds,â said Russell Treadway, city administrator. ....

Sevierville looking at land options in Kodak

SEVIERVILLE â The Sevierville Fire Department is looking into land purchase options for a new fire station in Kodak.
Fire Chief Matt Henderson presented a few options to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen during a workshop Monday afternoon, including a five-acre section of land near the Kodak United Methodist Church or a 34-acre farm adjacent to the Sevierville Chamber of Commerce Welcome Center.
âAs we look at putting the station in Kodak we look at what we have right now, but weâre also trying to evaluate what our potential growth is in the future,â Henderson said.
Much of that growth includes residential and industrial areas, including many projects near the interstate. In the past year work has taken place on a new FedEx distribution center in the I-40 Industrial Park on Snyder Road on the north side of the interstate, and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians is working on a multi-use development on a 198-acre piece of property on the southeastern ....
