$10,000 grant to banish heat from community hub

A $10,000 grant will soon supply cooler temperatures for a Calen community hub.
Dawson MP George Christensen said members of the Calen and District War Memorial were successful in their bid for $10,405 to install two air conditioners.
“Of course the airconditioning units will not be installed before Sunday; it’s likely to take a month or so, but at least the people of Calen know that it will be the last time they battle the heat of the hall,” Mr Christensen said.
“In recent years, there has been an incident of a cadet collapsing due to the heat.
“I understand that the hall is used by the RSL and the local school, and other recreation and craft groups will be interested in using it once cooling is installed.” ....

Everyone in Campbelltown will be able to experience a part of Aboriginal culture and history after the Campbelltown 2020 Yarning Circle was opened in Koshigaya Park today.
The space was developed as part of the Campbelltown 2020 program to recognise more than 60,000 years of Aboriginal history in the region.
The Yarning Circle design is the result of months of consultation and collaboration with local Aboriginal Elders and community members.
A prominent feature of the Yarning Circle is a series of artworks and carvings depicting the lyrebird which in an Aboriginal Dreaming story that tells the story of the lyrebird as being an animal that was able to communicate with all the other animals to resolve disputes. . ....
