The Knoxville Police Department received a $1,000 donation from Weiler Foundation Tuesday morning for the annual Helmets & Hotdogs event. School Resource Officer Kyle Keller says he’s grateful for this major donation.
“This is amazing. This is the biggest donation we’ve ever had for this event. This is the sixth year we’ve done it, and we haven’t really put it out there much to try to get donations until this year. Every year, we’ve run out of helmets. Last year, we had a few donated after the fact that we were able to get to people who didn’t get one at the event. This year, this money will allow us to buy more helmets. We’re basically matching the number of helmets Unity Point gives us each year, which is 100 helmets. This is going to be huge.” ....
