Bank Swallow Declared Endangered In N.B.

A small songbird known as the bank swallow has been classified as endangered in New Brunswick.
It is the first time the Committee on the Status of Species at Risk has made a determination on the status of a wildlife species at risk.
Natural Resources Minister Mike Holland said acknowledging the status of an at-risk species is an important step in ensuring their protection.
“Preserving our precious wildlife, such as the bank swallow, and their habitat for future generations is one of our main priorities,” Holland said in a news release.
The committee is made up of experts in science and Aboriginal traditional knowledge related to wild species conservation. ....
