Walvis Bay re-tables its "Budget for the People

The Council of the Municipality of Walvis Bay re-tabled its 2021-2022 budget during an Extraordinary Council Meeting on Monday night.
The tabling of the budget was initially scheduled to be ta-bled in mid-May. Council decided on 11 May to delay tab-ling the budget, as it needed more time to incorporate ideas and inputs made by members of the public during three consul-tative public meetings earlier.

Island Bay residents are being told to expect three months of foul odours due to maintenance work on a major sewerage pipe.
It’s another kick in the guts for a community that suffered through months of the “overpowering” stench of sewage after extensive damage was found in a pipe deep beneath Wellington in 2020.
Two four-metre-deep excavations will be dug into the road at the corner of Adelaide Rd and Dover St, so crews can remove, refurbish, and reinstall valves on a large sewerage pipe. ....

VICTORIA
An unmanned sailboat washed up on Cadboro Bay earlier this week and came dangerously close to damaging property on a residence.
Cadboro Bay Residents Association chair Eric Dahli said he was notified Wednesday about a 30-foot boat washing up on the beach. The mast ended up hanging over a glass seawall fence of a property.
“We are not sure if it was at anchor or on a buoy, but it broke loose and came ashore and was resting dangerously up against a home with glass panels,” said Dahli.
On Thursday morning, a group of divers were able to pull it off the beach, but the property owner paid for the bill. ....
