David Samson/The Forum MOORHEAD Applications will be opening this Thursday, March 4, to fill the vacant seat on the Moorhead City council created after former Ward Two Councilwoman Shelly Carlson was appointed mayor. Carlson, after being voted in by the council in February, replaced former Mayor Johnathan Judd after he was selected by Gov. Tim Walz to be a district court judge Ward Two includes in the east-central part of the city mostly east of 11th Street South, north of Interstate 94 and south of Fourth Avenue South. Council member Laura Caroon, who was just elected in November, is the other current council member from that ward. ....

All Season Motorsports as well as Northern Stone applied for the five-year tax emptions after remodeling their spaces. All Season Motorsports said they added more than $45,000, the minimum requirement of the ordinance, by building an addition to their shop, taking it from about 4,800 square feet to more than 10,000 square feet. The remodeling increased the value of the building from about $672,000 to $873,000. Northern Stone increased its Main Avenue shop from about $300,000 to $500,000. ....
