The priority in all the work we do is women and children s safety, Ms Darnborough said.

The latest Jobseeker increase is the single biggest update in the unemployment service since 1986, but many unemployed people are failing to see it as anything other than a disappointment in comparison to the COVID supplements of the past year. The increase, which is $25 a week, or approximately $3.50 a day, leaves those on Jobseeker well below the poverty line, and many people, advocates and politicians alike, are calling for a permanent increase to the service.
