ISLAMABAD: Ahead of the April 29 by-elections, Prime Minister Imran Khan has been named by voters of Karachi’s NA-249 constituency as their favourite political leader, maintaining an edge over PMLN’s Nawaz Sharif.
In two out of three polls conducted, PM Imran Khan was named as the favourite, while in the third, Nawaz Sharif was declared the most popular. Ipsos, Pulse Consultant, and Gallup Pakistan released survey findings based on the opinion of 1,200 to 1,400 registered voters of the constituency.
All the three surveys took place between April 10 and April 20, 2021.
In the survey carried out by Ipsos, PM Imran Khan was the most popular leader in the constituency with 20pc of the respondents choosing him. ....

Kolkata, April 26 (IANS) Heavy polling was recorded in the first three hours in the seventh phase of Bengal Assembly elections where people of 34 constituencies across five districts are out to exercise their franchise. According to the initial data released by the Election Commission, the state recorded a voter turnout of 17.95 per cent with Murshidabad district recording the highest polling of 19.53 per cent.

High Court sets June 30 to hear Azmin's application to strike out lawsuit filed by 10 Gombak voters

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court has fixed June 30 to hear an application by Gombak MP Datuk Seri Azmin Ali who wants to strike out a lawsuit filed against him by 10 constituents over alleged deceit and breach of fiduciary duty.
Deputy Registrar Maslinda Selamat set the date after the case was brought up for case management via e-review on Monday (April 26).
On the same day (June 30), the court will also hear an application by the voters who sought to strike out several paragraphs from Azmin s statement of defence.
According to Azmin s lawyer Nizamuddin Hamid, the said paragraphs - paragraph 13 until 20 - were on Azmin s reasons on why he left PKR. ....
