It wasn’t the civic body or the police but a resident of Warje and a responsible citizen,
Vaibhav Savalgi, who after noticing the
black magic dolls pinned to trees on a
riverside road, took up his social responsibility towards the environment and removed the dolls.
Savalgi, an
electronic engineer, said he wasn’t afraid of removing the dolls as all these are
superstitions. He said the act of pinning the dolls is a kind of cruelty against the trees. “We are indebted to the nature for so many good things we get from it and in return we are torturing trees by pinning dolls!” he said.
