Attorney-general and Economy Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum held a virtual consultation with representatives of civil society organisations (CSOs) yesterday.
The forum included members from the Fiji Council of Social Services, LifeFlight Fiji, Empower Pacific, femLINKpacific, Rainbow Pride, Asia Pacific Forum on Families International, Fiji Women’s Rights Movement, Citizens Constitutional Forum, Reproductive Health Association of Fiji, Foundation for the Education of Needy Children and Save the Children Fund.
According to a Fijian Government Facebook post, participants shared their views on the current challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and provided their recommendations for the upcoming 2021-2022 National Budget scheduled to be delivered on Jul ....

Over 200 new cases of Covid-19 in PNG
The latest figures issued on the Covid-19 outbreak in Papua New Guinea record another 275 cases over the last three days of last week.
This has taken the country s tally to 15,187 since March, with more than 1,000 yet to recover.
There have been at least 156 deaths.
Each province has had cases, with the worst hit being the National Capital District with nearly five thousand.
Numbers are also high in Morobe, Western Province and Western and Eastern Highlands, while Manus recorded the most cases on Saturday.

LifeFlight Fiji, a registered charitable trust in Fiji and its partners have been assisting the National Disaster Management Office in delivering relief supplies to the maritime areas in the Northern Division.
LifeFlight Fiji Founder, Anthony Blake says one of their partners, YACHTAID GLOBAL provided 2 vessels and a sea-plane that they offered to NDMO to deliver relief items.
Blake says following TC Yasa, they made a call for assistance to its partners to support the government in delivering relief supplies to communities. Blake adds the immediate assistance the government needed was an aerial survey of Vanua Levu and the Lau Group which they were able to conduct within the first 24 hours after Cyclone Yasa. ....

Not long after Anil Deo took shelter in his neighbour s house, he saw the category five winds of Tropical Cyclone Yasa rip his home apart.
