Victorian public service leaders are bracing for significant staff cuts after the state government announced it was looking for $3.6 billion in bureaucratic savings over the next four years, including an estimated $350 million reduction in salary funding for public servants.
Federal Labor and Australian Council of Trade Unions figures refused to condemn the expected cuts to public sector jobs and salary increases despite both bodies previously attacking the Morrison government over stagnant wages growth.
