28-yr-old businessman Garth Thomas and 34-yrs-old room attendant Aldia Louison, both of Gouyave Estate, St. John were jointly charged having been arrested in a joint operation on Monday 12th April, by officers of the Rapid Response Unit (RRU) and the Drug Squad, at Gouyave, St. John.
Both were charged with the possession of arms and ammunition; one 9mm pistol and magazine with four 9mm rounds of ammunition, trafficking of a controlled drug (cannabis) amounting to three hundred and seventy-nine (379) grams at an estimated street value of three thousand, seven hundred and ninety dollars ($3,790) and the discovery of a quantity of cash.

After entertaining legal arguments in support of and against a motion brought by defence lawyer George Prime, challenging the constitutional correctness of the proceeding against his client Curtis “Thunderbolt” Baptiste ten years after, and against the motion by Crown Counsel Brandon Toussaint, High Court Judge Justice Paula Gilford on Tuesday ruled that the trial would go ahead.
