OTTAWA A handful of fast-tracked housing projects meant to take in the most vulnerable Winnipeggers got the final green-light Friday.

The federal government has announced $12.5 million in funding for rapid housing in Winnipeg in an effort help vulnerable people, including those sleeping rough in encampments.
The $1 billion CMHC delivered federal rapid housing initiative (RHI) encompasses all major Canadian jurisdictions and is touted as a pandemic restart program that will provide 3,000 new affordable housing units coast-to-coast. With a move-in date next December, 88 housing units will be built in Winnipeg.
