The Poppy and Star Flight arrived in Invercargill on Thursday to pick up knitted and crocheted poppies for a national fundraising event. Involved with Invercargill s contribution to the event included, from left, Nazia Amaliya, Jean Wilkie, Dianne Blair, Conal Mulligan and Jonet Moore.
About 100 knitted poppies have been made by Southlanders for a nationwide fundraiser.
A large poppy and star are being flown to towns and cities throughout the country to have knitted and crocheted poppies attached to them.
Titled The Poppy and Star Flight, it is organised by Melanie and Kevin Salisbury, of Aviation Tours NZ, to increase awareness of Anzac Day and be part of a fundraising campaign for the RSA, The Starship Foundation and NZ Warbirds Association. ....
