Mumbai: A major fire broke out at a
COVID-19 centre in Virar in the neighbouring
Palghar district in the wee hours of Friday.
According to the Corona Control Room of the
Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation, at least 13 patients have succumbed to the blaze.
As per the preliminary information, the fire broke out in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Vijay Vallabh COVID care hospital around 3 am. The fire was reportedly preceded by an explosion in the AC unit of the ICU.
Soon after, the affected patients were shifted to nearby hospitals. ....

Maharashtra, on Monday, reported 51,751 new coronavirus positive cases. The total number of cases in the state reached 34,58,996. As many as 258 patients succumbed to the virus and took the death toll to 58,245. There are presently 5,64,746 active cases in the state.Mumbai recorded 6,905 newcases and 43 deaths on Monday. Two new facilities with a collective capacity of 375 beds have become functional in Worli.
