3 cops accused of rape in Cebu

CEBU CITY – Three policemen were relieved from their posts after they were accused of raping a woman in San Fernando, Cebu last Saturday.
Police Brig. Gen. Ronnie Montejo, chief of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO 7), said he was enraged upon learning the alleged abuse but he was also informed that it was just fabricated.
“Based on the initial investigation, there were inconsistencies in the statement of the woman,” Montejo said.
Police Lt. Col. Alejandro Batobalonos, chief of the Integrity Monitoring and Enhancement Group-Visayas Field Unit (IMEG-VFU), informed Montejo Sunday that a woman appeared before their office accusing three personnel of the San Fernando Police Station of rape. ....

CEBU CITY A police major fears for his safety following the murder here of a 35-year-old woman who filed a string of charges against a group of policemen.
Police Major Alejandro Batobalonos, chief of the Philippine National Police Integrity Monitoring and Enhancement Group-Visayas Field Unit (IMEG-VFU), said he didn’t know what hit him after learning that Ritchie Nepomuceno was gunned down by two motorcycle-riding assailants in Barangay Basak-Pardo around 6 p.m. Monday.
“Sa nahitabo ni Nepomuceno, mura ko’g na blangko unsa akong buhaton kay nibati pud ko’g kabalaka sa akong security (Because of what happened to Nepomuceno, I felt confused. I don’t know what to do because I am also worried over my security),” said Batobalonos. ....

Cebu City (CNN Philippines, April 20) A police officer being investigated for alleged rape and extortion took his own life on Monday, hours after his female accuser was fatally shot in Cebu City.
Ritchie Nepomuceno accused Police Staff Sergeant Celso Colita of raping her twice in a Cebu City motel in March.
She also filed criminal complaints against Colita and 10 other police officers assigned to the Sawang Calero Police precinct for extorting ₱170,000 from her.
The complainant also claimed the policemen tortured arrested suspects in a secret detention cell inside the precinct. ....
