Express Entry uses a points-based ranking tool called the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The CRS evaluates candidates on various factors, which IRCC views as demonstrating a candidate’s ability to succeed in Canada. Canada invited 183 Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence on March 17. Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited candidates who had a minimum score of 682. This Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score requirement may seem high, but that is because everyone invited had previously received a nomination from a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Express Entry candidates who get a provincial nomination are automatically given 600 points on top of their original human capital score. Meaning those who had the minimum score of 682, would have originally had a CRS score of 82 without the provincial nomination. Candidates who had the minimum score of 682 were only included if they submitted their Express Entry profile before March 4, 2021 at 16:56:20 UTC, as per the tie-break rule. IRCC publishes the cut-off time for the tie-break rule as an administrative requirement, regardless of whether there was an actual tie. ....

Canada has issued 654 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates in a new program-specific Express Entry draw. The February 10 draw required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 720 points, 6 points higher than the previous PNP draw. It was the third PNP draw of 2021 and fifth overall this year. The draw continues the return to targeting specific programs since the start of 2021. Alberta immigration has conducted its first Express Entry draw in six months, issuing invitations to 50 candidates with Comprehensive Ranking System scores as low as 406.
