Many students admitted for the controversial Dual Award Programme of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, on Thursday, stormed the campus of the institution in protest after the cancellation of the programme was announced.
The polytechnic, in a statement by the Registrar, Alhaji Isiaka Agboola, had announced the cancellation of the programme that it had hitherto run with a consultant, after which the students would earn National Diploma and National Certificate in Education.
The statement also said the cancellation was part of the decisions of the Academic Board of the polytechnic.
According to sources in the polytechnic, students admitted for the programme, upon receiving news about the cancellation stormed the campus and attacked its administrative building. ....
