Johor Bahru-S'pore RTS Link operator awards S$320 million worth of contracts

The Rapid Transit System Link (RTS Link) project between Singapore and Johor Bahru is well underway.
Public transport operator SMRT announced on May 12 that RTS Operations Pte Ltd (RTSO), the operator of RTS Link, has awarded nine contracts for rail systems.
RTS Operations Pte Ltd is a joint venture between SMRT and Malaysian public transport operator Prasarana Malaysia Bhd (Prasarana).

It will own, design, build, and finance the RTS Link operating assets including trains, tracks and systems. This company will also operate and maintain the rail line between Johor Bahru, Malaysia, and Woodlands North in Singapore. ....

S'pore - Johor RTS link on track for completion date of Dec 2026

JOHOR BARU: The construction of the Rapid Transit System Link (RTS) between Singapore and Johor is expected to be completed as scheduled in December 2026.
Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (MRT Corp) chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Zarif Hashim said that the overall progression of the project has been encouraging with over 70% of the design work completed and it is expected to be finalised in the next few months.
“One of the key items or critical items for any project like this is land issues and land acquisition. However, within a short period of time, we were able to settle a lot of land issues, including for the land in Bukit Chagar. ....

'RTS Link will add value to Iskandar Malaysia properties'

THE Iskandar Malaysia property market will benefit immensely from the Rapid Transit System Link (RTS Link) connecting Johor Baru and Singapore development.
KGV International Property Consultants (M) Sdn Bhd director Samuel Tan Wee Cheng said in particular, properties located within a 5km radius from the RTS station would benefit the most.
“Connectivity and accessibility between Johor Baru and Singapore will be enhanced once the project is up and running by 2026, ” he said when contacted.
Tan said the project would help ease the infamous traffic congestion along the 1.05km Causeway, a road and rail link between Johor Baru and Singapore.
Completed in 1924, the Causeway is the busiest border checkpoint in the world, with an estimated 350,000 to 400,000 travellers daily before the Covid-19 pandemic affected travel between both countries last year. ....

Malaysia's public inspection of Singapore-Johor RTS Link project begins on Jan 15

KUALA LUMPUR - A three-month public inspection of a rail project connecting Singapore to Johor has begun in Malaysia, two months after construction started in Johor.
Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (MRT Corp), which will operate the Rapid Transit System Link s (RTS Link) Bukit Chagar Station in Johor Baru, said on Friday (Jan 15) details of the project will be published for public inspection from Jan 15 to April 15, the Bernama news agency reported.
When the public inspection is conducted, information on the RTS Link project, including plans and alignment profiles, station site context plans, trains and details about possible land acquisitions for the project will be prepared for public scrutiny, said MRT Corp. ....

Industrial and logistic sectors to be top performers in 2021 — Savills Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 6): The industrial and logistics sectors will continue to be the top performing sector for 2021, predicts Savills Malaysia. It notes that Covid-19 has accelerated the growth in e-retailing businesses in both the warehousing and logistics sectors, and investors are actively looking at this strong asset class as an all-time favourite investment.
“Warehousing continues to be supported by the logistics sector and storage needs, and we see a strong pickup as e-retailing businesses continue to further improve. Brands continue to leverage on the infrastructure and capabilities of local and international e-commerce players. We also expect to see more deals flowing through in 2021 and the market to be more robust after a year of pandemic with slower action,” said head of agency Kevin Goh. ....
