Rs 404 Crore Sanctioned for State Farmers: Assam Agriculture Minister Atul Bora

STAFF REPORTER GUWAHATI: Fund for Assam Farmers Under PM-Kisan Project: State Agriculture Minister Atul Bora has said that around 12.50 farmers families of the State will get the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. Talking to The Sentinel on Sunday, Bora said, The Central Government has already sanctioned Rs 404-crore PM-KISAN funds for the farmers of Assam recently. The amount is being deposited directly to the bank accounts of the farmers. I thank the Centre for the sanctioning of the funds. The PM-KISAN is an initiative taken by the Government of India. Parliamentary panel flags low subscription under farmer pension scheme SECTIONS Last Updated: Mar 09, 2021, 07:16 PM IST Share Synopsis The PMKMY is a pension scheme for small and marginal farmers having cultivable land up to 2 hectares. Farmers within the age group of 18-40 years are eligible to get themselves enrolled under the scheme. Agencies A Parliamentary panel has pulled up the government for very low level of enrollment under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana (PMKMY), under which a monthly pension of Rs 3,000 is provided to eligible farmers on attaining the age of 60. The scheme was introduced in September 2019 and aimed to cover about 5 crore beneficiaries up to the 2021-22 fiscal, which has been revised downwards to 3 crores.
