COVID-19 response further strengthened to protect senior Australians

The Morrison Government is continuing to support residential aged care providers in Greater Sydney and across New South Wales with emergency preparedness and response activities and introducing more stringent reporting requirements to protect senior Australians.
Provisions to bolster residential aged care facilities amid the current COVID-19 outbreak include access to a second round of COVID-19 Aged Care Support Program grants and reimbursement for eligible expenses.
The program supports costs for additional or replacement staff, personal protective equipment, onsite testing, cleaning and infection control, waste management, and travel and accommodation. ....

Now, those same forces are seeking to prevent the terminally ill in NSW from having the same compassionate end-of-life options as the rest of the country.
Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) legislation is back on NSW parliament’s agenda to give terminally ill citizens the right to a dignified, medically-assisted death, at a time and place of their choosing.
Although the usual scare campaign is underway, it not packing the same punch as it once did.
After decades of public demand and relentless advocacy by organisations, such as Dying With Dignity,  NSW, is one of the few states left to legislate for it. ....

The Week noted: “China’s rapid industrialisation has forced people to flock to urban areas for work, causing many adult children to move farther away from their parents, who often remain in rural areas and are unfit to  pick up and move.” ....
