Working group to tackle slow-down in telecoms traffic

The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and Housing Developers Association of Cambodia (HDAC) have joined hands to establish a joint technical working group to oversee and monitor traffic related to telecoms services at borey gated housing complexes and co-ownership buildings often plagued by intermittent slow-downs.
A discussion on challenges and solutions related to telecommunications services in boreys and co-ownership buildings was held via video link on April 29 with minister Chea Vandeth, HDAC president Ly Hour and around 70 stakeholders in attendance.
Vandeth said setting up the working group to address challenges individually would help improve the efficiency and quality of mobile and internet services at these locations, stressing the urgency of the situation. ....

Call to review decision to have TIA checker

THE Surveyors, Planners, Engineers, Architects and Developers Malaysia (SPEAD) organisation is hoping that the Penang Island City Council will review its decision to appoint an independent Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA) checker effective Jan 1 this year.
Tan Hun Beng, who is Real Estate and Housing Developers Association (Rehda) Penang branch chairman, said they objected strongly to the council’s decision made without any prior consultation.
“The council is not able to present a strong justification for the need to have an independent TIA checker.
“The independent checker’s scope and terms of reference were not made known to us, ” Tan said. ....

Melaka developers grateful to state govt for putting off new housing policy on bumi units

MELAKA: Housing developers in the state are relieved that the Melaka government has deferred the implementation of a state housing policy requiring new residential schemes to set aside 70% of houses as bumiputra units.
Real Estate and Housing Developers Association (Rehda) Melaka chapter chairman Datuk Ng Choon Koon said he received an official letter from Melaka Land and Mines director Datuk Md Azhan Samat on Monday (April 19) regarding temporary suspension of the policy.
“Housing developers in Melaka are thankful to Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali and key officials for listening to our plight.
“Rehda had earlier appealed against the policy, which was supposed to come into force on April 1, as the policy would restrict the creativity and innovation of developers in meeting the niche market output,” he said in an interview on Monday (April 19). ....

DILG joins business groups in calling for passage of economic bills, Charter reforms

DILG Undersecretary and spokesperson Jonathan E. Malaya noted that the DILG joined the call to the Senate and the House of Representatives of five respected business groups that collectively expressed their strong support for the initiatives of the Duterte administration to open the Philippine economy as a means for economic recovery and sustainability.
“The affirmation given by these business groups shows that government policies are on the right track and those business leaders are willing to work hand in hand with the administration for economic recovery and sustainability,” Malaya said.
