GARDNER The city’s plan to begin delivering COVID-19 vaccines to residents in their homes has been put on hold for the time being.
City officials announced on April 13 the date the Homebound Vaccination Delivery Program was scheduled to begin that the service was being placed on hold after federal health authorities recommended that clinics temporarily halt distribution of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine until an investigation into very rare potential blood clots associated with the vaccine is completed. The city’s home delivery program had intended to utilize the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine. ....

Phase 2 COVID-19 vaccine clinic hosted at Prospect Street School in Gardner for those unable to sign up online

GARDNER A COVID-19 vaccination clinic sponsored by the city, the Council on Aging and Gardner Community Health Center distributed nearly 300 shots at the former Prospect Street School on Wednesday, Feb. 10.
All participants were registered via telephone, and the event was designed to help residents in the state vaccination phase 2 plan who were having troubling signing up for a shot online. The clinic featured volunteers from Gardner school nurses, the Rotary Club, the Wachusett Medical Reserve Corps, Gardner CAC, Woods Ambulance and the Gardner Police Department.
The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine was distributed at the clinic. Recipients will return for a second dose on Wednesday, March 10. ....
