Company has plans for new gold mine near Waikaia

If approved, the gold mine will cover about 30 hectares of land intersected by Winding Creek Rd, and is expected to process about 150,000 cubic metres of gold wash per year.
According to the consent application, the mine will directly employ 12 to 15 people and contract local businesses in its operations.
It will take about three months of planning and preparation, and an additional three months of construction after approval for the mine to be operational.
It is stated in the application that owners: “are confident that the mining methodology, groundwater management and rehabilitation measures proposed in this application are achievable, allowing for the mineral resource to be successfully mined with minimal effect on the environment during the operation and no ongoing effects”. ....
