Visa scam-agents have been put on notice after a 47-year-old unregistered migration agent in Victoria was jailed.
It comes as Star Journal reported on an alleged visa scam in which single, elderly men were targeted to marry overseas citizens in order to obtain partner visas in Australia.
They claim a pair of women operating as illegal, unregistered migration agents out of a Springvale café are pulling the strings.
They allegedly demand tens of thousands of dollars from would-be visa applicants.
In a recent case, a 47-year-old Victorian woman was jailed for nine months for providing unregistered migration services. ....

Moonee Valley Crime Investigation Unit detectives working Operation Tallinn, an anti-weapons operation, in Wyndham on Saturday night arrested two men and located weapons, drugs, ammunition and cash.
The arrests took place when police intercepted a car on Thames Boulevard in Werribee on Saturday just after 5pm.
A search of the vehicle resulted in police allegedly finding an amount of cannabis, GHB, knives, a home-made firearm, ammunition and an amount of cash.
A 29-year-old Werribee man was charged with traffick drugs, possess unregistered handgun, possess explosives, possess cannabis, deal property suspected proceeds of crime, possess weapons, possess cartridge ammunition, possess prohibited weapon without exemption, possess signal without reasonable excuse, drive while disqualified and commit indictable offence while on bail. ....

A man was allegedly stabbed by an Uber driver in front of his terrified girlfriend after a Christmas Eve party.
Shawn Sauvarin, 33, was travelling home to Point Cook, in northwest Melbourne, early on Friday morning when the driver, 26, accused him of spilling a drink, he claims.
Mr Sauvarin denied the allegations but claimed the man then grabbed a knife from the driver s seat and started slashing towards his face at about 2.45am.
I put my arms up to protect myself, and he sliced my elbow all the way to the tricep, Mr Sauvarin told SBS News. ....
