The most important issue is to control the ambitions of the airport. There will need to be much less air travel in a carbon constrained world. Everybody knows this but people are terrified to admit the fundamental nature of change required to address it, hence the Post Truth Era where denial has become mainstream percolating up from the collective subconscious.
