BAGHDAD: Minister for Foreign Affairs Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Saturday called on Iraq’s President Barham Salih and his counterpart Fuad Hussein separately in Baghdad and conveyed best wishes from Pakistan’s leadership and people for the prosperity of Iraq and its people.
In his tweet, the foreign minister wrote that he conveyed best wishes to the Iraqi president from Pakistan’s leadership and expressed condolence on the fire at Ibn-e-Al Khatib Covid Hospital recently that took many lives. He also shared some pictures with the Iraqi leader on his official Twitter account. ....

The President of the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly Volkan Bozkır held a meeting with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday.
They discussed issues related to the Rohingya and climate change.
Earlier, Volkan Bozkır arrived in Dhaka early this morning on a two-day visit to hold meetings with top government leadership and discuss the Rohingya crisis and shared challenges.
He is scheduled to visit Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar to see for himself the plight of the forcibly-displaced Myanmar nationals, who took temporary shelter amid persecution, ethnic cleansing and genocide in Rakhine state. ....

President of the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Volkan Bozkir on Tuesday highly appreciated Bangladesh s efforts for Rohingyas in Bhasan Char, saying it will be another example to the world on how to deal with the refugee issues.
“I really applaud the work done there – the quality of buildings and also taking all the precautions. I think this will be another example to the world on how to deal with refugee issues,” he said.
Bozkir hoped that this would work well for the Rohingya people, giving them a better condition in Bhasan Char. ....

Bangladesh to buy 15m Sinopharm COVID vaccine doses from China

Bangladesh will buy 15 million doses of the Sinopharm coronavirus vaccine from China, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has said.

The government expects the first batch of the vaccine to arrive within June, according to him.
Manufacturing of the doses will not take much time as Bangladesh has places the order, Momen told reporters at the Foreign Services Academy on Tuesday.   
Referring to a recent phone conversation with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, Momen said China prefers a “steady flow” of supply without disruption.
“We hope the vaccines will arrive by June, or July or August.” ....
