Former Ollie's student now Deputy Principal


With a new year, comes a welcome new appointment for a local post primary school.
Louth and Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB) is delighted to announce the appointment of Ms Trudy Rossiter as Deputy Principal at St Oliver s Community College, Drogheda. Trudy joins the other members of the Leadership and Management Team of the school, Mr John Halpin, Principal, Mr John Heeney, Deputy Principal and Mr Ian Gardiner, Deputy Principal.
As a Deputy Principal within the LMETB Schools Directorate, Trudy will also have the collegial support of the Senior Management teams in LMETB s other seventeen Post Primary schools, four Community National Schools, two PLC colleges and the Centre for European Schooling in Dunshaughlin. ....

Will the mocks actually go ahead? The big question facing the embattled class of 2021


As this term draws to a close, 6th year students are already thinking ahead to January. Always a busy month, challenges include completing the CAO, submitting UCAS applications and preparing for mock exams. While CAO and UCAS processes will go ahead as normal, in many schools there is a lot of uncertainty about when, how and if the ‘mocks’ will go ahead.
The ‘mocks’ are not a formal part of the Leaving Cert programme, however, every school chooses to hold them, often in February. They allow students to experience taking long exams, to practice timing and working under pressure and to assess what they know and don’t know. It gives them a clear understanding of what they need to work on. ....
