Weekend COVID Curfew: Barricades Back - Star of Mysore

Mysore/Mysuru: The first
weekend curfew kick-started last night with Police putting up barricades across the city and stopping non-essential movement till 6 am on Monday after which semi-lockdown will be in force. City Police Commissioner Dr. Chandragupta has warned people to stay off the roads unless it was very essential.
As a continued part of weekend curfew today, roads wore a deserted look and the city came to a grinding halt. Even during the four-hour window from 6 am to 10 pm granted for people to purchase essential items, there were hardly any people in the prime markets. As most of them had finished shopping last evening and had stocked up essentials, only a handful of shoppers were seen in the markets. ....

Heritage expert says conservation and repairs should be initiated to prevent further damage to the structures
The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) has said that two heritage edificeswhich dominate the city’s landscape and skyline need immediate attention and restoration, failing which there is a threat to these structures.
Though Mysuru has upward of 500 heritage structures and not all of them are in good shape, INTACH has drawn attention to the Silver Jubilee Clock Tower and the existing DC’s office building and said that works should be taken up in earnest to minimise further damage. ....

Ambaari goes on second route inspection in city

Mysore/Mysuru: The trial run or route inspection of ‘
Ambaari,’ a specially-built open roof top double-decker bus to identify the potential obstacles dangling electricity and cable wires, tree branches and LED illumination sets on procession route, electricity poles and arches began in city this noon. This was the second route inspection of the bus.
The ‘Ambaari’ is a Hop-on and Hop-off initiative for tourists to experience the magnificent City of Palaces and other heritage and cultural structures.
Armed with four linemen from Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC), four officials from Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) which owns the bus along with a driver and another KSTDC staff, the bus started its journey from Mayura Hoysala Hotel (KSTDC Office) on JLB Road and proceeded towards Field Marshal K.M. New Year’s Eve celebrations in city by imposing the next best thing to a curfew Section 144 of the Cr.PC.
The 12-hour Section 144 comes into effect across Mysuru city limits from 6 pm tomorrow (Dec. 31), 2020 till 6 am on Jan. 1, 2021.
