CERT delivered communications during evacuation


Last week’s mudslide evacuation marked the first-ever activation of the Community Emergency Response Team as part of a new collaboration between the volunteer group and the San Mateo County’s Emergency Operations Center. 
During the evacuation warning issued on Jan. 25, CERT volunteers from across the Coastside provided on-the-ground communication for residents in the southern part of San Mateo County, the same area evacuated last summer during the August CZU Lightning Complex fires. 
Volunteers knocked on doors, posted flyers about the area’s mudslide risk and radioed in updates that worked their way up to the county’s emergency operations center in Redwood City.  ....

Evacuation warnings issued for some CZU fire zones


State emergency managers issued an evacuation warning for parts of San Mateo County that were devastated by the CZU Lightning Complex Fire over the summer. The cause this time is expected heavy rains that will lead to mudslides.
The warning was issued at 5:30 p.m. on Monday and included South Coast Zone SMC-EO19 which includes Coastanoa and Año Nuevo State Park. That also includes Whitehouse Canyon Road and areas south of Gazos Creek Road.
In addition, SMC-038, which includes Butano State Park and the community of Barranca Knolls, as well as Loma Mar and Dearborn Park in zone SMC-E-098 were told to be ready to evacuate. SMC-E-098, the community of Butano Canyon should also be prepared. ....

With all the rain, there are some evacuation warnings issued for parts of the Santa Cruz Mountains
DAVENPORT, Calif. - Evacuation warnings were announced for parts of San Mateo County on Monday evening.
Cal Fire CZU posted notification on social media at 5:30 p.m. that evacuations were effective immediately due to the forecasted rainfall and risk of debris flow. 
The following areas are affected: 
South Coast Zone SMC-E019, which includes Coastanoa and Año Nuevo State Park. This includes Whitehouse Canyon Road and areas south of Gazos Creek Road. ....

Officials in San Mateo County Monday evening issued evacuation warnings for parts of the county due to the possibility of debris flows following the expected rain.
Warnings went into effect immediately Monday evening for four zones in and around the CZU Lightning Complex burn scar.
A warning is in effect for South Coast Zone SMC-E019, which includes the Coastanoa resort and Ano Nuevo State Park, including Whitehouse Canyon Road and areas south of Gazos Creek Road. ....
