Exempt candidates from purview of night curfew clamped by Assam from Tuesday till May 1 | India News

GUWAHATI: Congress in Assam has urged EC that the candidates of the assembly election, his or her election agent and party representatives on duty at various strong rooms be exempted from the purview of the night curfew clamped by the state government from Tuesday till May 1.
APCC president Ripun Bora in a memorandum to the state chief electoral officer has stated that as per the provisions of the manual of the Election Commission, representatives of the political parties are allowed to watch or guard the strong room round the clock.
“Similarly, as per guideline of the Election Commission of India, the contesting Candidates and his or her election agent are also allowed to visit the strong room to inspect about its safety. In view of this, if exemption is not allowed from night curfew to the contesting candidates, their election agents or the candidates representatives during this curfew period they would not be able to visit or guard the strong room which will frustra ....

Three cheers for Andrew Little, a government minister who has actually decided to govern as if they do have a big majority. Let s hope he sparks a flurry of activity from his fellow cabinet ministers in other areas needing bold moves, and there are plenty of candidates, Transport, Housing, Electricity, MBIE and the SOEs to start with.

KARACHI: Major political parties, including the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Pakistan Peoples Party, have cancelled their rallies in Karachi’s NA-249 constituency due to the rise in Covid-19 cases.
However, electioneering in Baldia Town is gathering momentum as all the contestants have been flexing their muscles to give one another tough time in the upcoming by-poll for the National Assembly seat.
Balloting will be held on Thursday to elect a public representative for the constituency. The NA seat had fallen vacant due to federal minister Faisal Vawda of the PTI resigning after casting his vote in the Senate elections. ....
