Secondary school promoted for Duleek

Meath County Council has agreed to promote and investigate provision of a secondary school for Duleek following a debate as part of the new county development plan on Saturday.
Cllr Stephen McKee raised the issue of a much needed school to facilitate the hundreds of students who leave the area each day for schools all over the region.
His bid received overwhelming support from fellow councillors.
He said there was land available in the centre of Duleek for it, but Meath CC said they had spoken wth the Dept of Education and LMETB and were told it wasn t needed.
A secondary school would help the town business wise as well, Cllr McKee stated. ....

Two new data centres planned for IDA Park

Amazon are presently developing a major centre at the location.
As part of that, Meath County Council heard a presentation on Monday in relation to an application for a 110kv gas insulated electricity substation beside the Amazon plant.
It is seen as a vital part of infrastructure to ensure continuity of supply to the centre.
The substation will be two storeys high and feature masts and transformers.
The submission states that the new plant will be vitally important for future development on the site, the master plan indicating two further centres in the future.
The decision on the substation will be made by An Bord Pleanala. ....

New road proposed for Rathmullen would transform travel time across Drogheda town

A new developer-led stretch of road, an extension of the road into the IDA Park on the Donore Road and exiting around Sheephouse, would transform traffic on the overstretched Rathmullen Road.
That s the proposal Cllr Paddy Meade put to fellow councillors at last week s special planning meeting in relation to the new Meath Co Development Plan.
It is now likely the proposal will form part of the Transport Strategy report presently about to commence between Meath and Louth County Councils.
Cllr Meade said the new road would service the likes of St Oliver s Community College and all the residents in that area. ....

Schools will rise to latest lockdown challenge

With Dundalk schools returning to online learning once again, homeschooling challenges return for students and parents.
As the prospect of an extended school closures, perhaps into February. becomes likely, schools across Louth are preparing to teach remotely once again.
Louth Meath Education and Training Board say they are confident that it s local schools, Coláiste Chú Culainn, Faughart CNS, Bush Post Primary and Ó Fiaich College will once again be up to the task.
Principal in Coláiste Chú Chulainn, Thomas Sharkey stated: We know that our schools are very safe places for young people.
