$15.4M works for Mackay Isaac Whitsundays projects

Roadworks, town beautification, park and playground upgrades, renewable energy installations, tourism, water and safety.
These are some of the eligible projects that could soon be funded under the latest Works for Queensland funding announced today.
Mackay Regional Council will receive $9.99 million, Whitsunday Regional Council will get $3.84 million to spend and Isaac Regional Council has secured $1.59 million.
Mackay MP Julieanne Gilbert welcomed today’s announcement.
“This is great news for Mackay and for our region’s economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic,” Mrs Gilbert said.
“Another round of Works for Queensland will allow Mackay Regional Council to deliver more jobs and build or upgrade their council infrastructure. ....

$25m allocated for CQ council projects

Central Queensland’s regional councils will receive $24.52 million as part of the State Government’s Works for Queensland program.
Rockhampton has been allocated $9.46 million, Livingstone $3.5 million, Gladstone $7.79 million, Central Highlands $2.66 million, and Woorabinda $1.11 million.
The funding may be used for a range of projects, including roadworks, town beautification, parks and playground upgrades, renewable energy installations, tourism, water, safety, and more.
Regional Development Minister Glenn Butcher said the money would help councils build or maintain infrastructure projects that supported jobs.
“This further funding will help councils deliver roads and pathways, parks and playgrounds,
all while creating local jobs,” he said. ....

Five halls around the region receive fresh facelift

Five community halls across the Fraser Coast have been given a facelift, thanks to funding from Fraser Coast Regional Council and the State Government s Works For Queensland program.
Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour, joined with Member for Maryborough Bruce Saunders to visit the Granville Community Hall, said the addition of the Works For Queensland funding allowed Council to expand its refurbishment program.
The network of halls across the region is vital. They are community hubs; places where residents get together to socialise, play and cement their bonds to the local community, he said.
The halls host community activities such as playgroups, dance, fitness, wellbeing, and music classes, as well as balls, school musicals, expos or craft stalls, 21st birthdays, engagement parties and weddings. ....

Time crunch as Collinsville project sidelined to fund others


 
Cr Wright said community consultation helped reveal the projects of interest for the community and suggested scratching the irrigation project and missing footpath link works.
The results are in and going off that, I just feel those two top projects don t meet what the people are wanting out there, Cr Wright said.
Instead, Cr Wright suggested the funds be used for an upgrade at the Collinsville tennis courts and revamps to Darcy Munro Park, Scottville Park and Lions Park to put in new equipment and seating.
The balance of the funding would still be used for beautification on Stanley St. ....
