John Deere has discontinued one of its key app-based task management tools.
Used by operators to manage and record jobs through the company’s precision farming packages, the MyJobs app was withdrawn at the start of January.
The firm says the reasoning behind this was twofold. First, it wants to further integrate task management into the actual tractor terminal rather than relying on third-party hardware such as tablets and smartphones.
The second reason cited is that global uptake of the MyJobs app was lower than anticipated and so the cost of running and maintaining the software could no longer be justified. ....

John Deere’s cloud-based data management tool, Operations Center, has new navigation, planning features, and a renamed mobile version the company announced mid-January. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic adoption rates of this technology have jumped dramatically, says senior product manager Kyle Plattner.
Consistent navigation
Navigation of Operations Center has been improved to be more consistent between mobile and web versions.
“We know farmers are always on the move, which makes the mobile app version of Operations Center more important than ever,” says Jennifer Badding of John Deere. “That’s why John Deere has made improvements to both versions, web and mobile, to make them look and function in a similar manner, so farmers have clear and easy access to their data from any device.” ....
