A North West police officer is in trouble after he allegedly impregnated an inmate who was awaiting trial for murder.
The incident allegedly took place at the Stilfontein police station s holding cells in October. 
North West police spokesperson Col Adele Myburgh said the woman had been brought in from the Rooigrond Correctional Centre to the Stilfontein holding cells ahead of a court appearance.
[In] March she discovered that she was pregnant and correctional services reported the incident to SAPS,” she said. ....

As Nigeria joins in the commemoration of World Day of Social Justice today, the National Association of Seadogs, NAS, Abuja Chapter has tasked the Federal Government to fully implement the Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) Health Protection Regulations in the nation’s correctional facilities and custodial centres.
Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had on 26th January 2021 in the exercise of the power vested in him by Section 4 of the Quarantine Act, Cap Q2, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2010 and all enabling powers in that behalf signed the piece of legislation into law. ....

President Muhammadu Buhari has signed a new law prescribing six-month jail term for persons convicted for disobeying COVID-19 protocols.
The president signed the COVID-19 health protection regulations 2021 in Abuja, on Wednesday.
The regulation is in line with the exercising of the powers conferred on Buhari by Section 4 of the Quarantine Act, Cap. Q2 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2010.
Although most of the provisions are already in place, the legal instrument provides a basis for the prosecution of defaulters.
As provided in the Quarantine act, section 34 of the new law states that any offence under the regulations is punishable by a fine or a term of six months imprisonment or both. ....

In the exercise of the powers conferred upon me by Section 4 of the Quarantine Act, Cap. Q2 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2010 and all other powers enabling me in that behalf; and in consideration of the urgent need to protect the health and wellbeing of Nigerians in the face of the widespread and rising numbers of COVID-19 cases in Nigeria, I, Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, hereby make the following Regulations.

Restrictions on Gatherings
1. At all gatherings, a physical distance of at least two metres shall be maintained at all times between persons. ....
