In a statement made to mark 2021 World Press Freedom Day today, PINA notes that while “our health workers have been rightfully recognised as ‘frontliners’ in the fight against COVID19, the critical frontline efforts of our media workers in bringing much-needed information and news to our people has been largely forgotten.”
“Much like our health sector colleagues, our media workers go about their daily work, also at high personal risk and exposure to this virus, but with the unwavering desire to inform and educate our people,” PINA says. ....

60 Groups to perform in Zion Fest

Vanuatu’s Zion Fest event has been growing every year after it was separated from Fest’ Napuan and became a stand-alone event in 2018.
Chairman of the organizing committee, Nigel Quai said this year 60 Christian groups will be performing, a big increase to last year with only 43 groups.
This year’s program will start on Thursday 17- Saturday 19 December and close on Sunday 20 December with Carols by Candlelight at Saralana stage.
“Another record for the festival was set this year, some groups have 100 members so we have to extend the stage,” said Mr. Quai.
He said that initially the event should have taken place in May during the two weeks holiday but due to COVID-19 protocols for social distancing at that time the event was rescheduled to August. ....
