Pratyusha, who shot to fame with her role in TV serial Balika Vadhu in 2010, was found hanging from a fan at her residence in Goregaon, Mumbai on April 1, 2016. Ever since, her parents have been fighting to give their daughter justice. They even filed a case against Pratyusha's ex-boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh. Cut to 2021, the couple is now facing financial issues due to the economic impact of their ongoing legal matters. In a new interview, they said that they are forced to live in a one-room flat now and are penniless.

New Delhi: Late television actress Pratyusha Banerjee's parents are suffering a financial crunch after their daughter's sudden demise and have opened up on their crisis. Her father Shankar Banerjee revealed that they are forced to live in a one BHK house, as they lost everything after Pratyusha'a death. 
In an interview with Aaj Tak Hindi, Pratyusha Banerjee's father Shankar Banerjee said, "After this (Pratyusha's death) accident, it seems as if a huge storm came and took away our everything. We did not have a single penny left with us. We have lost everything while fighting the second case."

In a recent interview, Banejee's parents have claimed that this case has drained them completely, which has forced them to live in a single-room house. From taking loans to working day and night, the late actress' parents are doing everything so that they do not have to give up on their daughter.

চরম অভাবে দিন কাটছে প্রয়াত অভিনেত্রী প্রত্যুষা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের মা-বাবার। ২০১৬ সালে মৃত্যু হয় ‘বালিকা বধূ’ খ্যাত প্রত্যুষার। অভিনেত্রীর মুম্বইয়ের অ্যাপার্টমেন্টে ঝুলন্ত অবস্থায় পাওয়া গিয়েছিল তাঁকে। তাঁর মৃত্যুকে আত্মহত্যা বলে ধরে নেওয়ার পরেও বিচারের জন্য লড়াই চালাচ্ছেন অভিনেত্রীর মা-বাবা। আদালতে মামলা লড়তে লড়তে প্রায় সর্বস্ব খোয়াতে বসেছেন তাঁরা।
মুম্বইয়ের এক সংবাদ মাধ্যমকে প্রত্যুষার বাবা শঙ্কর বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় জানিয়েছেন, মেয়ের মৃত্যুর বিচার পাওয়ার আশায় মামলা লড়তে গিয়ে সব গয়না বিক্রি করে দিয়েছেন প্রত্যুষার মা। এমনকি নিজেদের বাড়ি ছেড়ে এক কামড়ার একটি ফ্ল্যাট থাকছেন তাঁরা। তার উপর রয়েছে ঋণের বোঝা।

প্রত্যুষার বাবার কথায়, “ওই দুর্ঘটনার পরে মনে হয় একটা ভয়ঙ্কর ঝড় বয়ে গিয়েছে আমাদের জীবনে। সব কিছু কেড়ে নিয়েছে আমাদের থেকে। আমাদের কাছে আর একটা টাকাও নেই। দ্বিতীয় কেস লড়তে লড়তে আমরা সব কিছু হারিয়ে ফেলেছি।”
জুন মাসে প্রত্যুষাকে আত্মহত্যায় প্ররোচনা দেওয়ার মামলায় অভিযুক্ত রাহুলরাজ সিংহ বিস্ফোরক দাবি তুলেছিলেন। তাঁর বক্তব্য, তিনি নন, বঙ্গতনয়ার মৃত্যুর জন্য দায়ী তাঁর মা ও বাবার অতি লোভ। প্রত্যুষা নাকি তাঁদের কাছে ‘সোনার হাঁস’-এর মতো ছিলেন। অথচ প্রত্যুষার বাবার গলায় সম্পূর্ণ অন্য সুর। অভিনেত্রীর মৃত্যুর পাঁচ বছর পরেও যেন খুলছে না রহস্যের জট।
