Leading Sharjah developer Arada has unveiled Al Janah Pavilion, a striking architectural structure based at its megaproject Aljada, which has been designed and built in partnership with students from the College of Architecture, Art and Design at the American University of Sharjah (AUS).

Located in the popular Madar district of the Aljada masterplan, the design of the pavilion provides an iconic focal point for visitors to the community, and a contemplative space for people to gather.

Al Janah (wings in Arabic) pavilion was designed and developed during the 2018-2019 academic year by AUS students enrolled in a design studio course that was part of a collaboration between Arada and the university. ....

His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, issued Emiri Decree No. (7) of 2021 amending Emiri Decree No. (20) of 2019 regarding the restructuring of the Sharjah Urban Planning Council (SUPC).
The new Emiri Decree stipulates that the new SUPC Board of Directors will be chaired by Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of Sharjah Executive Council, with Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Saud Al Qasimi as Vice Chairman and Director of the Council. ....

Sharjah's child-friendly projects highlighted during global online event

As part of a presentation of international case studies, research, and projects, Dr Hessa Khalfan Al Ghazal, Executive Director of Sharjah Child Friendly Office (SCFO), outlined Sharjah’s journey as the region’s first UNICEF-recognised Child-Friendly City and briefed the audience on Sharjah’s Child Friendly Urban Planning project which aims to stimulate and involve children and youth in shaping the future of the emirate’s urban landscape.
Inclusive spaces
Conceived by SCFO, an affiliate of the Supreme Council for family Affairs in Sharjah, and the Sharjah Urban Planning Council (SUPC), in partnership with UNICEF and UN Habitat, the Child Friendly Urban Planning project calls for assimilating safe, playful, and stimulating everyday experiences in the emirate’s planning, design and management of projects, and addresses the needs of children by incorporating their ideas to create friendlier, healthier, and more inclusive spaces. ....
