Council stalls Wildstone Heights zoning amendment
City of Cranbrook council Monday night unanimously opposed first reading of a zoning amendment for a property along Echo Field Road that if approved would pave the way for approximately 144 mobile home / single family lots and 110 mobile home park lots.
Council was unanimous in support of staff recommendations to not give first reading to Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 4038, 2021 – Wildstone Heights Property Corp – Echo Field Road.
Ron Fraser of Engineering and Development Services, outlined in a report to council the city received application from Brad McInnes on behalf Wildstone Heights Property Corporation for an amendment to the City of Cranbrook Zoning Bylaw to enable consideration of rezoning, subdivision and mobile home park development of the property. City of Cranbrook council is holding a virtual public hearing March 8 for zoning amendment bylaws covering a rezoning and subdivision application for a property at 4A – 11th Street South.
Terpsma Land Development Consulting, on behalf Kan-West Solutions Ltd., has applied for an amendment to the City of Cranbrook Zoning Bylaw to enable consideration of rezoning and subdivision of the property.
Council Feb. 8 passed the first two readings of Zoning Amendment Bylaw Nos. 4033 & 4034 and a public hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Monday, March 8.

“City of Cranbrook Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 4026, 2020”.
The proposed Zoning Bylaw amendment will add “Supportive Housing” and “Supportive Services” & “Public and Social Services” as a permitted and accessory use, respectively, to the Special Institutional Zone: P-4 zone and change the zoning designation of the subject property from “Community Recreation Zone: P-2” to “Special Institutional Zone: P-4”.
