Roughly 1,100 more cases of COVID-19 had been discovered in Alberta as of Thursday.
Dr. Deena Hinshaw, chief medical officer of health, gave an update on Twitter with “estimated” new COVID-19 numbers.

No additional deaths had been reported. Another 15,600 tests were run, with seven per cent of cases testing positive. Hospitalizations were said to be “increasing” and ICU stays were “stable.”
Hinshaw’s next in-person update is on Monday and she’s expected to estimate new numbers, via Twitter, on Boxing Day. ....

Inmate dies at Edmonton healing centre

EDMONTON
An inmate has died at the Stan Daniels Healing Centre in downtown Edmonton.
Curtis Wolfleg had been serving a sentence of just over four years for two counts of robbery, obstructing a public/peace officer, failure to comply with conditions of undertaking/recognizance, and three counts of uttering threats to cause death/harm.
He had been serving his sentence since June 14, 2018.
Correctional Service Canada says it is reviewing the circumstances of Wolfleg s death at the Healing Centre, and police and the coroner have been notified.
Wolfleg s family have been notified of his death, said CSC.
The Stan Daniels Healing Centre is a 72 bed healing lodge that houses conditionally released and federally sentenced Indigenous inmates. ....

On December 24, 2020, Curtis Wolfleg, an inmate from Stan Daniels Healing Centre died while in our custody.
On December 24, 2020, Curtis Wolfleg, an inmate from Stan Daniels Healing Centre died while in our custody.
At the time of his death, Mr. Wolfleg had been serving a sentence of 4 years, 4 months and 22 days for Robbery x2, Obstruct Public/Peace Officer, Fail to Comply with Conditions of Undertaking/Recognizance x3, and Utter Threat to Cause Death/Harm since June 14, 2018.
The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified. ....
